The SHYC Junior Sailing program has been a leader in teaching kids ages 8+ how to learn to sail. Courses provide the opportunity for young sailors to develop the skills and confidence necessary to enjoy sailing. The summer sailing program is run mid-June through mid-August. Courses are designed specifically for different ages and levels of experience to provide a fun opportunity to get young sailors out on the water. We offer 16 camps in 3 age divided levels to meet the needs of all ages and experience. We are also offering 2 different Regattas this summer. This program is focused on safety and fun, not racing and is open to the public.
Adult lessons will be taught on our J24 fleet. The class will cover everything from docking to rigging, sail trim, safety procedures, helming, trimming, navigation and more. There are 2 class offerings, each 4 weeks in length. Instruction is geared toward individual levels of ability and experience. There is no age limit for the class and is open to the public.
We are happy to announce we are bringing this program back for 2025. Learn to sail as a family (up to 5 family members) with one of our instructors. Several morning and afternoon options are available.
This new program will allow access to our SHYC boat fleet with your own crew. Members can borrow a Club boat from our fleet or charter a J24 for the entire SHYC racing season. Club Boats $2000/summer; J24 Racing Charter $2500/season
