Curt joined the South Haven Yacht Club in early 2023 with 35 years of food and beverage knowledge and experience. At his previous position he was recognized with the Wine Spectator Award for interesting wine assortment appropriate to cuisine. Curt has a Bachelor of Science Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration from Western Illinois University. He is Food Service Management Professional Certified, ServSafe Certified and Food Allergen Certified. Curt is excited to make SHYC the first choice for food, fun and friendship.

Tre Covey

Executive Chef

Tre was promoted to Executive Chef in 2022 after previously working as Sous Chef. Before the South Haven Yacht Club, he worked at Hawkshead Golf Club. Tre brings incredible energy and passion to the Club and is very adept at menu development. He is devoted to timely service and utilizes as many local vendors as possible in food creations. Tre changes his menu seasonally and offers weekly specials for members.

Raymond Gawel

Dock Master

Ray joined the SHYC in 2013 and oversees the 35 boat slips and fuel depot. He manages all the fuel dock and ground maintenance employees. Outside of the club, Ray is a teacher’s assistant at the Behavioral Education Center, a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway and he also teaches spin classes at the Bronson Wellness Center. Ray and his wife Lana have a boat detailing business. He is also the Treasurer for Hope Church and runs triathlons. Ray likes working on the water and enjoys the friendly people he encounters. Family is extremely important as he has 5 children and 6 grandchildren. When not working in South Haven, he enjoys time at his second home in Vero Beach, FL. He looks forward to retirement and continuing working summers at the SHYC.
