Join Us for Some Summertime Fun!
The South Haven Yacht Club is pleased to offer several exciting sailing programs to girls and boys who are in the South Haven Area during the summer of 2009. In our Intro to Sailing course, students will learn the basic principles of boat handling and seamanship. In our Advanced Sailing course, students will expand upon the skills learned in the introductory course and work on more advance principles of sailing. Learning how to sail is a perfect way to take advantage of our beautiful Lake Michigan venue and is a fun filled activity that can last a lifetime! So sign up your children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces and their friends for some summer time fun!
All Classes will be taught by a US Sailing Certified instructor
Matthew Baker, US Sailing Certified Instructor will offer Intro and Advanced sailing instruction
You must be at least 8 years old and entering 3rd grade in the fall of 2009 to sign up.
Cost per student is $100 per session. There are 20 full scholarships for students who attend schools within the South Haven Public School District including St. Basil’s and St. Paul’s are available.
Four two week sessions will be offered with classes meeting Monday through Thursday each week.
Session 1- June 22-July 2
Session 2- July 6-July 16
Session 3- July 20-July 30
Session 4- August 3-August 13
“Intro to Sailing” morning classes will meet between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm.
“Advanced Sailing” afternoon classes meet between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm
(Prerequisite: either “Intro to Sailing” or equivalent sailing experience.)
Session 5 August 17-August 27
This session will be reserved for students requesting a second class for the season.
Racing Techniques
John Stscherban US Sailing Certified Instructor returns for the third year at the South Haven Yacht Club and will offer Racing and Adult Lessons
This class is designed to more advanced sailors and meets for six hours on Friday and Saturday, traveling to another location to participate in racing. Parental support required to help transport kids and equipment.
